The philosophy behind Slow Trips is to offer unusual travel experiences that are also environmentally friendly, meaningful, regional and sustainable. The narratives being developed by the Slow Trips project partners aim to encourage a more original and unconventional portrait of the regions.

Instead of passive consumerism, we want to encourage active participation. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your creative potential in workshops and learn more about our destinations’ customs, traditions and craftsmanship. Surprising encounters with locals will enrich your experience. You’ll discover lost places and even engage in some time travel. And, above all, you’ll enjoy each region’s encompassing hospitality.

There are many different ways to experience slow travel so we’ve created some themes to bundle our Slow Trips Experiences. Find your favourite one:

Are Slow Trips for everyone? And which Slow Trips are right for me?

Slow Trips tourists are not like regular tourists; that much is clear. You don’t care for the nose-in-the-travel-guide experience that mainstream tourism still sticks to. You don’t want the usual show and dance but to properly experience your destination as it is.

But, of course, not all Slow Trips fans are entirely the same, either. This is why everyone can create their own Slow Trips Experience, put together based on individual interests and desires. Plan as many activities as you can manage or keep your schedule open and relaxed — it’s all up to you.

Slow Trips focuses on innovation and providers who have created different and diverse experiences. Our offers involve a wide variety of new suppliers and host groups, including agricultural businesses, craft enterprises, cultural mediators and creative artists. The narratives they develop encourage a more unconventional portrait of our destinations.
